Do DPHS have properties that they will offer me?
No, we do not own any housing stock. Our role is to put the applicant in touch with the associations that do own property such as Aberdeen City Council, Registered Social Landlords (housing associations) and private landlords.
How long will I have to wait for a house?
We don’t know is the honest answer. There are huge demands for housing and it is even more challenging to access suitably adapted housing for various disabilities and support needs. Our role is to direct the customer to all the options available, help put in applications, liaise with housing providers on your behalf and support you to consider all the options available.
What if I don’t want to move, can DPHS help me stay in my home?
Yes, absolutely! Our role is not to just to help people find alternative housing, we can also help you access a wide range of services to stay in your current home. Sometimes something small can make all the difference in making you home suitable, from grab rails to getting community meals coming in.
Do you only help with social housing?
No, we work across all types of housing. We can help you find private rented accommodation, give advice on sourcing a deposit or furniture, direct you to mid-market rents, shared ownership and help to buy schemes. We also work with people who own their properties who mgiht need assistance to buy something more suitable or who might want to adapt their property.
